"Monster Island," The Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time that "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's about an island called Monster Island, where a monster lives. In a way, it's the island.


The movie is about an asylum. It has the same budget and uses it sparingly. It's a movie about a few people and only a few of its major characters are featured. The entire (check here) cast can be film on lunch break, so it focuses on the smaller human characters. The Asylum might not do so badly considering that this is a kaiju movie.
